The log file has everything.

The games I run OBS on are League of Legends and Killing Floor 2.

After an hour or two, OBS will shut down the computer when recording League.

After a few minutes, OBS usually crashes my computer when recording Killing Floor 2.

I believed that it was a lack of RAM, since I was originally running 16GB. I upgraded to Windows 10 and installed an additional 16 in hopes of fixing the issue, but to no avail.

Any ideas?

P.S I am a complete noob to OBS, so if I'm doing something wrong; I'd really like to be called out on it in the hopes of fixing the issue! Thanks in advance,

Fatbad.

That's likely a system instability issue, rather than OBS. 16GB is more than enough RAM for anything you could possibly needed to do, as a streamer.

Last time I had something like this happen, It was a bad RAM stick. Did you ever check your original 16 GB's of RAM for instabilities or errors?

Never checked the RAM sticks for instabilities, I was originally running on 2 4GB sticks and that worked fine; now that I think about it, when I installed the older 8s; the issue sprung up.

How would one go about testing for instabilities which would affect OBS in particular? I haven't had a problem with anything else.

Thanks for the link! Before I even got to use it, I tried rendering with Blender on the max settings to test RAM and the computer shut off in the same style; it's definitely the older 8s. Glad I bought the newer ones and I can just take out the unstable RAM.

Only one downside, can't return the older ones because I've had them for a few months past the 30-day return time limit.

Thanks again,

Fatbad.

Then as soon as I started to run OBS and KF2

I shut both programs down a second later and it didn't crash on me

So the processor overheating is definitely a possibility.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Peaking in the lower 70s doesn't constitute overheating for a 4790K. Do the temperatures continue to rise beyond that? If so I would look at whether your HSF is still mounted correctly, and try remounting it with fresh TIM.

Memtest showed up and said no errors, just did a nice old test with the x264 CPU Preset set to Medium and the CPU Temp jumped up to 95 before I shut down all the programs. I'll definitely check out the processor's heatsink/fan/paste

Hi, I just recently purchased the Avermedia C985 and just recently stream yesterday and its causing my computer to freeze/shutdown. Before, when i streamed via pc without the avermedia on obs and it was fine. Last night i played The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess HD on my Wii U and it was fine with no issues streaming it with obs for like 2 hours and i decided to switch over to my Xbox One and played the Division and after an hour it was okay. an hour after i get back on i played a bit and noticed 10 min after starting the stream my screen was frozen and i rebooted the computer and after 5 min without obs it would shut off...
