Start with the Configuration Wizard It's pretty good then go from there

I tried to use that method but I want something with AV1.
Why? Yes, it's supposed to be more efficient, but if the older, well-supported things are good enough...why? Are they *perceptibly* not enough? (there *is* a measurable difference, but that does NOT mean that your viewers will notice)
It is not for that. I recording AVI and it takes a lot of memory but the clarity and smoothness are wow. It works AV1 but from 5 in 5 seconds from 60 fps downscale for 0.5 seconds to 35 fps and the smoothness of the record is compromised. And for my video editor is a pain to edit 15min (60 GB) of video... If was AV1 maybe works more efficiently.
And same problem with 5 in 5 seconds has HEVC and H264.
