Question / Help OBS requires platform update, but update does not apply to my system

When I run the OBS setup, it says "WMI Command Line Tool has stopped working" and I have no choice but to cancel it. Next, it says I need the Windows Vista platform update. When I download the installer and run it, I get a box saying "The update does not apply to your system."

My OS is Windows Vista SP2 64 bit, in case anyone was wondering.

What on earth is "WMI Command Line Tool"? I think you may have just downloaded the update for the wrong architecture. We actually don't fully support windows vista at the moment as well, it's been having some issues and we've been having trouble debugging it.

Generally, if you download all windows updates available for windows vista, it should work okay, and if you run windows update enough, it should at some point include the platform update. There are a ridiculous amount of updates for windows vista. That platform update is however required to even get OBS running. You could try running the OBS binaries to bypass the installer as well, though the installer *should* be detecting it correctly.
