Question / Help OBS Refuses to Open

So whenever I decide to open OBS, it freezes my computer for about a second and unfreezes then nothing happens. It's running in the task manager, but does not open physically. If I try to end the task and run as administrator, the same thing will happen. It may be a conflicting issue that I created a new user, did not uninstall OBS and deleted the first user in which OBS was downloaded to, but this is the only application that I've used that's had this problem. I've attempted reinstalling the software but it's no use.

Then something on your PC is completely blocking OBS from starting, as that is one of the the very first things the program does. I would check any antivirus or other security programs you may have running and verify if they set to allow OBS.

Anti-virus updates definitions all the time, and we see this nearly every day where some new AV update blocks parts of OBS.

The whole thing is ridiculous as OBS is a digitally signed application, and poses no threat.

Sorry for the late response.

My anti-virus does not see OBS as any type of threat and when I attempt to launch OBS in my drive it fails as well. (Freezes and does not open, sometimes completely freezes my computer requiring me to restart)

If your entire computer is freezing up when you launch OBS, it sounds like you have some kind of hardware failure or other issues that are not directly related to OBS.

OBS runs in user space, and cannot directly cause your PC to lock up like that.

Hi, I'm still having this issue today

I tried redownloading OBS today and again it froze my computer when trying to launch it, but unfroze it relatively later, but now it seems to be freezing it every few seconds even though it's closed.
When I launch it it shows in task manager but it doesn't actually show up

Sounds like you have a failing hard drive or similar. Check your Windows event viewer system error logs for possible causes.

Where do I go in event viewer to check this? Also is it just OBS that will crash because of this? Every other thing on my computer works fine.
