Hi,
thanks for looking at my thread, apologies if the title is confusing or not very useful as to show what I need help with but I shall explain in detail here.

Essentially when i record a video on a game and the file is saved to my video folder I cannot open that file with Sony Vegas. So i convert the file using third party software in order o acquire the video file and audio as separate files. This allows me to open the video in Sony Vegas perfectly fine. However, trying to open the audio or import it is another story, I can't seem to open it because Sony Vegas pops up with an error telling me it can't for whatever reason. The audo plays fine in other software and I can hear it fine. I checked the file type and it's .aac. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what file type it needs to be if it's the incorrect one, how i can convert it to that file type or record it as that file type. If anyone could help me it would be massively appreciated. I'm crazy new to video editing and recording and I'm learning as I go and I'd appreciate it greatly if anyone could give me some help here.

Thanks for taking the time to read.

OBS definitely needs to be to be in AAC mode. The direct problem may be what your conversion software is converting it to. But the root problem is probably something else, because Vegas should be able to open the file directly. If you save as .flv, you need to check the guide on how to convert it to .mp4 first. If you're saving without Constant Frame Rate enabled, you need to enable it, because Vegas can't handle variable frame rate video. If you're using CRF instead of CBR, you need to make sure its set to a reasonable value.

If you're not sure what OBS is set to, then you need to post an OBS log file so that we can tell you specifically what to change.

Hi boildown, thanks for the reply much appreciated.

Regarding AAC mode I have no clue how to put OBS into that mode, nor do I have a clue what CRF or CBR. Sorry to be a pain and not totally understand everything. I use an MP4 converter to convert the .flv file to MP4 and when I did it had bad video quality but had the sound working perfectly. I tried changing the video quality every time it converted however it would always stay the same unfortunately. I've included a log file to assist you with your assisting and hopefully it's not too much trouble for you to inform me on what must be changed, enabled etc.

Again I appreciate the help and swift response its much appreciated.

Ok, you're using the Multiplatform version of OBS, not OBS Classic. So you need to ask your question here: https://obsproject.com/forum/list/windows-support.32

I haven't started using the Multiplatform version yet so am not very familiar with it. But I'm pretty sure it has a built-in tool to convert .flv to .mp4. You should use that instead of whatever program you're using now.
