Question / Help OBS picking up microphone even when its Push to talk

Hey guys, I've been using OBS for a month now and for some reason I just started getting this issue with OBS.

I have Push to Talk enabled, but my voice will still get picked up by my microphone even when I'm not holding down the hotkey for the mic.

I've not had this problem before since I started streaming... I feel like theres a simple fix, but I've tried re applying the settings and restarting, as well as reinstalling OBS and making a new profile. I even went into windows sound options looking for a solution, but nothing seems to help.

I'm sure I'm overlooking something really simple, but your help will be much appreciated!

Perhaps you have the Microphone Noise Gate checkbox enabled? It might be overriding the PTT checkbox <-- just a guess :3

Can you post your log? http://obsproject.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=97

Without looking, my guess is that you have added a capture device or a webcam, and that device has your microphone set as the the device's audio, so you have it added to OBS twice. But it's hard to know for sure without a log.

Hope this helps you help me lol

theres my most recent logfile:

Went back to the OBS options to see if I did, and it was unchecked, so not that :\

I went ahead and did a search on the forums and some people suggested running the program in administrator mode, but that didnt really do much of anything either.

Please make sure "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" is unchecked for all your audio devices.

Also, if you have 'Use Input device for desktop audio' ticked under the Audio settings, uncheck it. Effectively that'd be adding your mic twice; once as push-to-talk on the Mic audio input channel, and once always-on, as the Desktop audio input channel. Your first log appears to suggest this is what's happening.

If you unplug and replug your headset, make sure to restart OBS, so it can recognize the changed audio setup.
Ferrets advice is also correct. Your first log shows you using your Microphone for both desktop as well as auxillary device, which would explain why you got the initial problem of PTT not working, or at least it seemed that way.

Make sure your Headset is selected as desktop audio device and Microphone is selected as auxillary, then everything, including PTT should work as expected :)
