I have a friend who has Windows 8 (If it is relevant) and he cannot uncheck disable aero at startup, thus depriving him of hardware acceleration. Any help/insight would be appreciated. Thanks - Playerofsc2
Also, disabling Aero would be disabling hardware acceleration, not turning it on. Turning Aero off is only relevant for very problematic applications and when using monitor capture in Windows 7.
Edit: Sorry, misread that. But like Krazy said, Aero can't be disabled on Windows 8, so the setting has no effect.
There is no reason to turn off Aero in Windows 8, because it has the Desktop Duplication API that allows full-screen capture of anything, even with Aero enabled.
The checkbox being ticked on Windows 8 does not disable Aero, so it doesn't matter if it is checked or not. If you absolutely want it to be unticked, press Windows+R and open %appdata%\OBS\profiles. Then open the file with the name of the profile you are currently using, find the line "DisableAero=1" and change the 1 to 0.
