OBS Microphone recording "CLICKING/CRACKING" issue

Hey everyone,

I’ve been struggling with a frustrating issue: my Fifine AM8 USB microphone is producing clicks/pops (sounds like random mouse clicks) only when recording in OBS. These artifacts do not appear when recording in other programs like Audacity.

I’ve already tried the following:

  • Verified mic works perfectly in Audacity – no clicks or pops
  • Completely reinstalled OBS and cleared all settings
  • Set sample rate to 48kHz in both OBS and Windows
  • Tried both WDM and MME devices in OBS
  • Used Voicemeeter Banana to stabilize input – clicks still present
  • Tried multiple USB ports (front/rear, USB 3.0/2.0)
  • Disabled exclusive mode in Windows sound settings
  • Adjusted audio sync/delay and buffering in OBS
  • Removed all filters and effects
  • Ran OBS as admin and with high priority

I'm using a clean setup and have ruled out everything I can think of.

Here's a short clip showing the issue: https://youtu.be/1FF4QBZLW80
And here's the log: https://obsproject.com/logs/8n4UZMp3ESmg4btg

My goal is to livestream and make YouTube videos (mainly Honkai: Star Rail content), but this audio issue is holding me back.

Specs:

  • OS: Windows 11 24H2
  • OBS: 31.1.1
  • Mic: Fifine USB
  • CPU: Ryzen 7 5700X
  • GPU: RTX 3060

Before I go out and buy a full audio interface, I’d really appreciate if anyone could help troubleshoot or confirm if this is a known issue with OBS and some USB mics.

Thanks a lot in advance!
