Question / Help OBS Max Stream Resolution?

I just bought a monitor with 3440x1440 resolution and was wondering if OBS can stream at that resolution? I have an AMD card and have been using Raptr but that program is a mess after the last update. I have heard max res for OBS was 1920x1080 but wanted to come here to be sure.

It would look terrible within the bitrate constraints of streaming, require a lot of CPU power to compress, and have a wider aspect ratio resulting in letterboxing for virtually any viewer. Should be possible, just not a good idea.

If your PC is fairly current it should work. I am trying to record at 3840x2160 (down-sampled to 1080p) myself, and the only issue I am having is that OBS stubbornly detects my screen resolution as 2560x1440 (as described in my post https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/obs-detects-wrong-resolution.25123).

As Sapiens says it's a little CPU heavy, but down-sampling to a lower resolution should reduce some of the workload. Your aspect ratio will be the biggest issue: most people will see weird borders.
