Question / Help OBS Game Capture (Problematic) vs OBS Beta Game Capture

Hi all,

When I'm using the non-beta OBS, game capture is laggy and in the log files there are unknown hooks hooking to my game. I've tried help everywhere and no one seems to know why. Here's the log: https://gist.github.com/anonymous/8a128f419c96699abd8a

HOWEVER, when I use the beta OBS, game capture works fine and there are no unknown hooks. So I don't know what's going on. Here's the log file: https://gist.github.com/anonymous/eefc9884e76286713be9

Don't create multiple threads, it's spammy. Just update the original one.

What about the Steam Overlay? Usually the Steam Overlay is fine, but I'm curious if that might be the other hook that OBS is detecting.

Not helping, now OBS Multiplat cant even hook with game captures anymore...

I did put in a request to see if OBS could clarify on the process name instead of just unknown, which would help, but I have those unknown hooks as well so it could even be something in windows for all I know.

Anyway, @Jerry Yu what did you change if it WAS working and now its not?

Absolutely NOTHING.

I was streaming one day then the next day it just stopped working, I have no idea why... Talking about the multiplat. The old OBS game capture just refuses to work on anything, but windows capture is smooth as f.

lower webcam resolution to 720p. I've heard sometimes this can cause lag (1080p is wasted pixels anyway).

Second, disable the preview window from the OBS main window. right click on the preview while previewing, click preview then uncheck enable preview I believe.

Yep I tried that, I don't have the lag issue, but it's always just a black screen. Unknown hook is in the logs.

However, my friend was able to game capture just fine even though the unknown hook warning was present in his log.

you do realize, this is your first mention of black screen in the thread. quit making new threads for the same issue and you'll have everything in one place :P
