Question / Help OBS freezes after I start recording...?

So, I've tried OBS a number of times. It seems simple to use, and a lot of major YouTubers use it. But for some reason, once I start recording, everything is fine for literally ONE second, then the recording will freeze and not continue until I stop the recording. How do I fix this? Most other screen recorders aren't free, and when they are, they have a stupid watermark, so OBS is my last hope. Is there ANY fix to this?
