Question / Help OBS - Dual PC - AverMedia Extremecap U3 - Setup

Firstly - I have read through many of the guides for this and they range from slightly different to very different.

My requirements are this:

Gaming PC - This is only for playing games
Manufacturer: Self built
CPU: Intel i7-2600 3.40ghz
Memory: Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-2400 Memory
OS: Microsoft(R) Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Video: DUAL EVGA GeForce GTX 970 Super Clocked ACX 2.0 4GB GDDR5 SLI
Keyboard: Razer BlackWidow Ultimate
Mice: Logitech G500 / Mad Catz R.A.T.9

Streaming PC - This is for both streaming and recording game play.
Manufacturer: Self built
CPU: Intel Core i7-4790 3.6GHz Quad-Core Processor
Memory: Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-2400 Memory
OS: Microsoft(R) Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Video: EVGA GeForce GTX 760 4GB Superclocked ACX Video Card

Video Capture: AVerMedia CV710 ExtremeCap U3

I have some quirkiness that happens, but I mainly want to see if someone can help me with the setup. What I have right now, works; however the checklist that I have to go through is well, seems a little over the top. Let me see if I can explain a little further.

Streaming/Lets Play recording - one of the most important things for me is to have the in-game audio and my microphone on separate channels.

Again, I do have this working, but there has got to be an easier way.

If I want to stream: On the gaming pc, I make the Avermedia/hdmi the primary playback device. [this is connected to the U3 capture device] Then on the streaming pc, in order to hear any audio, I have to run OBS with a scene that has the U3 as a source and either "stream" or "preview"

If I want to record game play: On the gaming pc, I make the Avermedia/hdmi the primary playback device. [this is connected to the U3 capture device] Then on the streaming pc, in order to hear any audio, I have to run RECentral and press the "ready" button.

Again, this all works and the gaming pc audio is heard on the streaming pc. [or my headset which is plugged into the streaming pc]

I did have to use the, "Use WaveOut audio renderer" since there was some popping in the audio.

Now, if I don't want to record lets play or stream, on the gaming pc, I just make my onboard sound card [realtek] the primary playback device.

So, what am I doing wrong?

The quirkiness? OBS sometimes will freeze on launch and I think what reduces or stops that is I first run RECentral and go through the wizard to make sure that the video and audio are 'initialized'? Then usually OBS will launch and I can click on stream with no freeze.

First of all. Do u connect the u3 to an onboard USB 3.0? I have heard from a german streamer, that this can cause in Problems with the u3. Its a electricity thing. He sayd, buy a Super speed USB 3.0 PCIe card whould fix the Problems. Mine should arrive this Week. What says the diagnostic Tool from avermedia?

I Dont know if i understand right with the Audio things, But i have a similar Setup as u, so let me explain how i did that. But Note: i have three soundcards on the gaming rig and a Audio mixer to put all the Audio in.

Onboard realtek
Logitech USB Headset with his own soundcard
c-Media PCI card

Onboard Realtek:
this Is my primary decive. From here comes the gaming Sound and teamspeak Sounds. The line out goes in One Audio Mixer channel. "What u hear" or "Stereo Mix" is configured to Listen to the Logitech Headset.

C-Media:
this decive is for music only. Again, "stereo mix" is Listen to the Logitech Headset.

So now i have two seperat channels with inputs in the Audio Mixer. The line out from the Mixer goes in the line in of the Streaming pc.

For teamspeak i use my Headset mic. For my voice in the Stream i use an mic wich Is Plug in the mixer.

I Know, this is not that Easy way u are looking for. But perhaps there are some things u can use from it.

Another way to get Audio from the gaming rig to the Streaming rig Is a Programm called "stardock acustique Bridge" it brings all the Audio from the primary device of One pc to the other. Over LAN. But only playback devices, no record device i think.

After reading my 'explanation' I can see that it wasn't all that clear.

If I just want to play a game and not stream or record it, Here is what my playback devices are set to:

When I want to stream/Capture then I change the above to the HDMI/Avermedia connection.

The reason I use RECentral vs OBS, is that the RECentral software brings both the audio and video across and I just make the RECentral software full screen and then use 'bandicam' to record the whole screen. My microphone is plugged into the capture/streaming pc, so I am able to record my audio on a separate channel and extract it for editing.

I will look into getting a PCIe USB card and see if that solves the problem, the U3 diagnose software doesn't report any problems and shows that I can record at all settings.

I like the idea of different sound cards to keep certain applications audio separate and I have a Turtle Beach USB sound card that I use for teamspeak/skype.

Please note: this could only help with the freezing problem.

Unfortunately, i cant help with this audio thing, because i don't use the audio over hdmi. Was wondering if recentral don't safe the settings, so u don't have to go to recentral first if u want to record.

I have had less issues now that I am using only the HDMI only, RECentral was saving the settings, just seemed that at times, when the U3 needed to be used, that it would just not response and it would cause either OBS or RECentral to hang.
