Bug Report OBS crashing when trying to stream NS2 in first person

Hello,

I have a weird issue with OBS crashing lately whenever I attempt to stream from first person.
To some extent, it can also happen when I stream in overhead mode for long periods of time, and there are occasionally times where the resulting recording is extremely stuttery, even though the in-game experience was perfectly normal.

However, I can repeatably cause OBS to crash within minutes of attempting to stream in first person mode.
This is odd, as it used to be just fine streaming first person, and that was how I initially settled on my stream settings by testing in first person mode. At some point, it just decided to start crashing and I have not been able to figure it out. Most often the logs point to the x264 dll file.

I have attached a zip of the logs and the crash dumps of the last three crashes I had while attempting to reproduce the issue. (Each time, it would stream fine in overhead for 10+ minutes, but will crash within minutes of switching to first person mode.)

Hopefully this will be helpful enough to help me troubleshoot this issue.

Other notable information would probably be my system's specs:
Win7 x64, i7-3770k, 16GB of RAM, GTX670, 256GB SSD
Internet connection via Optimum Online's "Ultra101" service - 101/35 Mbps
Typical speedtest result:

If there is any other information required, please let me know.

Thank you.

Edit:
It seems I cannot attach the zip because it exceeds the maximum 512KB filesize limit.
I will instead temporarily host the file here:
http://darkscythe.com/downloads/OBSCrashes.zip (826KB)
Please let me know when I can delete it.

(since i know ns2 had issues early on with obs and i bothered jim with those all the time)

I cant reproduce it, so it seems to be an issue on your end. Do all capture methods cause it?

I have not tried any other capture methods, since game capture is the recommended method to use to capture full screen gameplay.
If the recommended/optimal method doesn't work, I don't understand why using a less-than-optimal method will.

That said, which should I attempt?
Also, it used to work fine in first person. I don't know why it suddenly decided not to.

Just so we're clear, by "NS2" you mean Natural Selection 2, correct? Has the game been patched at all recently?

Can you post your log? http://obsproject.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=97

Yes, 'NS2' is 'Natural Selection 2' apologies for not making that clear.
Game has been patched a few times, most current patch is today, but I have not yet had time to try it.

My logs have been posted and linked in my OP - it was too large to attach to the forum since it contains dumps and logs for 3 crashes.

it seems like the crashes were in x264, usually when that happens it's more indicative of hardware issues than an actual program issue, though I only did update the x264 version recently -- you might want to check to see if this happens in 0.58* versions where the x264 version is a previous one

That sounds disconcerting.

I know that the dll in the current version is labeled as x264-140.dll so I assume that's the build/version of the file.
I do have crash logs from a previous version (I forget if it's for the same reason though, but it might be -- I've upgraded OBS versions a few times since it's started happening, thinking that would fix it.) and the previous logs indicate a crash with x264-136.dll.
