Bug Report OBS crashing after switching scenes.

OBS keep crashing whenever i change scenes and it refuses to shutdown even when i use the task manager.
This issue started when i added a Camera input (to interact with viewers etc). It really gets annoying that you can't turn it off in anyway possible, is there a way to shut it down? First scene has no camera, second scene has a camera.
 
The sounds like you camera drivers are deadlocking. Check they are up to date, and make sure your camera is added as a global source to reduce the chance of this happening.

Also, it already has the latest updates!
I will try using Global Source after rebooting my computer since it's the only way to close it.
 
Added my camera as a global source and so far, OBS has not crashed or had any errors. The only issue is that my camera froze. I don't know if it's the camera itself that is causing the issue or if it's OBS. Any solutions?
 
After streaming, whenever i press "Stop streaming" OBS crashes and i can't close it down. Why can't the task manager close OBS? It pisses me off to have to restart my computer everytime that happens. Also i can't post any logs because i don't want to restart my computer(yes, OBS has crashed, again). Will post logs tomorrow.
 
You can't terminate OBS because your camera has deadlocked during some kernel I/O. Maybe try switching USB ports or run your camera in a lower resolution.
 
I've already switched USB ports more than 4 times and still the problem exists. I just decided to remove my camera and just use OBS without it, so far it seems OBS has not crashed.
 
Just to add additional perspective to this thread... I have what sounds like the exact same problems with my Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000. About half of the time, when I stop streaming, it deadlocks (and I have to restart the computer). It also has trouble with me closing OBS a lot of times. The picture often freezes/unfreezes during broadcasting.

Last night, the camera picture had frozen (audio always works though) and a viewer suggested I remove the camera from the view, so I clicked the checkbox next to the camera's source in the Scene and that's when I got this particular deadlock (had to restart).

In it, I had streamed on Saturday, left the app open and Streamed a couple of times on Sunday, then got the crash.

I'm going to follow the recommendations of switching USB port and dropping the resolution some more (already dropped it a bit and the framerate as well), but since I have the same type of camera and the same problems, it's sounding more like it's an issue with the interaction between this camera's drivers and OBS, correct?

For anyone else coming to this thread: in the latest OBS v0.657b, I followed all of the advice in this thread and did this:
  • Removed the webcam source from all existing scenes
  • Added the webcam as a Global Source
  • Set the resolution down by 50% to 320x240
  • Set the FPS to 20
...and now it's been behaving for several days (and many streams) in a row. The video feed used to freeze up during streams (audio would keep going) and that doesn't happen anymore. Also, I'm able to start/stop streams and even close the program and it hasn't had any more deadlock issues with the cam.

Yeah unfortunately it's a hard problem to pinpoint. It's usually down to something device related, overloaded USB ports are very common since people don't realize there's limited bandwidth in a USB hub, and what happens during an overload is not often taken into account in drivers and Weird Stuff™ starts happening.
