OBS crashes while recording video

I tried 3 versions, it happened all of the sudden one day, with no major updates to either GPU, win11 or obs. It streams fine but when I record it crashes after 10 minutes or so. It does it most of the times but sometimes it doesn't. I turned Hardware acceleration of. Tried a different drive path, tried recording in a different format, mkv, mp4.

I am out of ideas.

Make sure the plugin you installed is updated and compatible with the OBS version you're using.
Your GPU driver is old. Same with Windows version.
Your GPU is capable to stream as it have a dedicated chip for encoding. You should use it.

Windows does not give me an update for the GPU, i will look for one on the nvidia website.
24H2 is crap, i need to keep this version.
How do I enable the gpu encoding?

Install itunes using their installer here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/106372
After that is done you can set your audio encoder in settings>output to CoreAudio.

If you're still crashing after doing that, it is one of your media sources.

Take in mind that the "Verysoft WebCamSplitter Pro" is also a "media source" (source of media). The "avutil" lib, where the threads starts, is mostly about memory management and hardware.

Edit: I forgot about "ManyCam Virtual Webcam" - it is compatibility with modern OBS also in question.

I am using a custom output ffmpeg that lets me record .avi - If i choose "core audio" i won't be able to record avi. It disappears from the container formats list.

I would strongly recommend using standard output mode, your crash is with ffmpeg and is almost certainly related to your custom ffmpeg settings. Usually when someone mentions avi files like this they are a little misguided and other formats will work fine as well.

Not the case. I tried them all, it is verysoft pro, i want to be able to stream a video and avi is the only one that works. Plus it used to work fine for months, until it stopped working. The software is never updated so something else changed and i cannot figure out what.

You may try to install older version of OBS from the time where all worked OK for you. Or even try OBS in portable mode.
