Now as stupid as this sounds I've been having similar issues with crashes, and fixed mine using the following method.
If Aero Mode is disabled you must re-enable it! I spent many hours thinking that the logs were wrong and that I had it enabled when in reality they were still disabled even after applying an aero theme it does not reactivate the correct settings!
Steps taken to fix this issue.
Windows 7 64bit Ultimate
Step 1: Click Start Menu and type Aero.
Step 2: Click Find and Fix transparency and other visual effects.
Step 3: Allow application to fix aero mode settings.
Hope this helps I know this won't work for everyone, but if it worked for me odds are it'll work for others as well.
