Question / Help Obs Conversion/Editing error

my obs videos that i create use the x264 codex with no cfb enabled for my encoding, My obs files also save as mp4 and load to youtube correctly and without error. My problem here is, i was recently trying to create and edit a montage video with Windows Movie Maker but it will not read my mp4 files due to it thinks they are corrupt. I have downloaded several conversion softwares to try and convert the files to .wmv but no software will recognize the file or if it does it discards the file immediately. I have reason to believe the error is within the encoding but i may be wrong. Can anyone help me find a fix to be able to use videos with windows move maker?

What do you mean "cfb"?

Also, it's not recommended to save directly to mp4 due to the fact that ANY non-graceful shutdown of the encoding effectively wipes the file.

Cfb if im correct (cant be sure as im not near my pc to check currently) means custom frame buffer(ing) such as cfr means custom framr rate (feel free to correct me if im wrong) also would it be recommended to save to flasg format? Such as flv?

CFR - Constant Frame Rate, not custom. Not a lot of video software supports variable framerate, so you want constant frame rate enabled and ideally set to either 30 or 60.

If you're recording, you should probably reset your recording profile and follow https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/how-to-make-high-quality-local-recordings.12600/

As for formats to save, use the default flv and follow https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/how-to-convert-flvs-to-mp4-fast-without-re-encoding.16429/ to remux them to mp4.

You appear to not have specified the CRF value in the advanced x264 encoder settings like the guide says to. That may be the cause there.

i see that but in my advanced settings it shows nothing about

custom x264 parameters: Enabled
Custom x264 parameters: crf=X

nevermind i got it. but in the bar do i actually put crf=(number) or does crf stand for a variable? also i did try crf=5 and tried to upload the file to windows movie maker and movie maker has a yellow triangle which im sure stands as it doest recognize the file encoding.
