Wonder if your Profile is bugged? Things are going downhill. Try creating a new Scene Collection & see if there's any improvement.

With OBS closed, delete the obs-studio folder, get a fresh start. Navigation should look something like this:

C:\Users\you\AppData\Roaming\obs-studio

OBS not opening has nothing to do with your RAM. Uninstall VLC if you have installed it and test again. Also, have you recently tried to install the streamlabs plugin?

I had installed the streamlabs plugin sometime ago, yes. I also have streamlabs installed as a backup but I've always prefered regular OBS Studio

Still nothing. I've deleted contents in this folder before and sometimes will get it to pop up for a second before dissapearing again

this is the likely cause, there is an issue where windows defender is flagging the streamlabs plugin for OBS and causing OBS not to start as a result. fully uninstall the plugin and try again.

Not sure where to find the plugin on my PC to uninstall it. I've deleted and reinstalled OBS Studio so many times im not sure if or where the plugin would be to uninstall

EDIT: I'm about to leave my PC for a few days, so I won't be able to troubleshoot for a few days. I'm still open to any suggestions or methods and will try them next time I get the chance. I greatly appreciate everyone's help so far. If we can't figure it out, I'll probably have to switch over to the streamlabs app proper. I'd prefer not to but it's better than nothing.

SE does replace core elements of OBS but the re-install & deleting that folder should have taken care of it.

The websocket error & your VLC install are still not right.

"Failed to glob scene collections" in OBS Studio means that the software is unable to locate or access your saved scene collections, likely due to a corrupted file path, incorrect permissions, or a problem with the OBS configuration directory where scene collections are stored.

Possible reasons and solutions:
  • Corrupted configuration file:
    • Restart OBS: Sometimes a simple restart can refresh the configuration and resolve the issue.
    • Verify file integrity: Check if your OBS installation files are corrupted by verifying them through the application's settings or platform where you downloaded it.
    • Reset settings: Consider resetting your OBS settings to default (be sure to back up important settings before doing this).
  • Incorrect file path:
    • Check the directory: Navigate to your OBS settings and verify that the path for scene collections is correct and accessible.
    • Permissions issue: Ensure your user account has read/write permissions to the OBS configuration directory.
  • Missing scene collections:
    • Check for existing collections: Double-check if you have any scene collections saved in OBS.
    • Import from backup: If you have a backup of your OBS settings, try importing the scene collections from it.
  • OBS bug:
    • Update OBS: Check for updates to your OBS Studio version as updates often include bug fixes.
    • Report the issue: If the issue persists after trying other solutions, consider reporting it to the OBS development team.

How to access scene collections in OBS:
  • Open OBS Studio.
  • Go to the top menu and select "Scene Collection".
  • You should see a list of your saved scene collections.

There should be a thread on GitHub, somebody was having trouble with their install & it was due to certain characters being used in their user name. Not sure if that applies here but thought of it with the corrupted file path mentioned as a potential cause.

So back to this thread. Tried reinstalling OBS on my external hardrive rather than ssd. Still the same thing, opens for less than a second before closing.

When I uninstalled OBS numerous times, I would click the box to delete all scenes so I don't think it has anything to do with that, but I could be wrong.

At this point I may just have to switch over to the streamlabs app proper. It's been working fine, I'm just so comfortable with OBS Studio that I don't want to make the switch, even though they're roughly similar apps. I don't want to make the switch but that might be my only option at this point

SOLVED! This finally did the trick!

Sadly, in previous troubleshoots I had completely deleted all my scenes and profiles, so I have to rebuild everything from scratch. Oh well, just happy this app finally works again!

HUGE THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR THEIR HELP!
