Hey guys,

So I want to get into video editing and post my videos on YouTube by playing League of Legends, just for fun and have videos good enough to discern all numbers and letters within the game, so I don't care about the highest quality, just enough for people to see and understand clearly.

OBSHelp_zps1c2291f3.jpg.html

1)These are my settings, but occasionally way too occasionally I get a problem with chugging, as in my video will freeze and unfreeze for a split second every...3-4 seconds? Every time I scroll the map it has problems rendering.

2) Also, why does it sometime say "Trouble rendering with red letters on the bottom of the OBS window when I ALT + TAB? I think that also causes the freezing within the recording.

Cheers and I await for your replies.

Your CPU is not able to keep up with encoding at the resolution, frame rate and preset you're using. Try superfast or ultrafast preset first, and if that doesn't work you'll need to lower the recording resolution, frame rate, or both.

Going to give this ago, can you specifically tell me where in which options to change the frame rate and resolution? Also I assume it's the x264 CPU preset I can change from ultra fast/very fast?

Dude! you are a freaking genius! EVERYTHING IS SO SMOOTH!!! What is that setting? As in what is the 264 thing that it just made everything record so smoothly?

The x264 preset controls how much compression is performed on the video. The slower the preset, the more compression is performed at the expense of making your CPU work harder, which means either 1) better quality for a given bitrate or in your case 2) a smaller file size since there's no bitrate limit. Slower presets, higher resolutions and higher frame rates mean more work for your CPU. If your CPU can't keep up with the preset you've chosen then the result is poor game performance, a choppy video file, or both.
