Question / Help OBS Causing Micro-Stutter When Streaming Fallout 4 Specifically [New to Forums - Help?]

Hey OBS Forums,

I've been a user for a few years now and kept quiet, lurking at posts from the dark and solving problems as they come up. Overall, I've never really had an issue with the program while playing, recording and streaming video games to my pages the past few years. However, that changed last month with Fallout 4.

Like many, I bought Fallout 4 for my PC - and I was hyped to stream it. But, when streaming it on launch night I noticed a micro-stutter despite keeping a solid 60 FPS according to my Steam FPS overlay (and FRAPs - for another testing avenue). Naturally, I thought it was due to the graphics being too high - however, even at the lowest possible settings? I get the stutter whenever OBS is open. When I close OBS? It goes away completely.

Since I'm waiting to stream Fallout 4 until I get this fixed, I'd love to get some input from you guys about what to test. I am new to these forums though and going through final exams - so please keep that in mind when asking for information.

I've uploaded a log from 12:50 EST today, when I was last trying to figure the problem out.

Thanks so much guys, hopefully we can knock this out.

Fallout 4 being a pretty intensive game, So much so that a 4790K and a 780 is recommended to run. with streaming, those recommended requirements are sort of mandatory depending on the resolution you are recording at. 720@60 is no light feat either. Anyway, I wouldn't doubt that you are having issues streaming this new game. I would consider streaming at 720@30 and/or dropping the webcam and decklink from your OBS for the time being and see if the microstutters persist. I would also disable any in-game overlays such as fraps or afterburner as these can affect streaming as well.

Just my thoughts as your log looks fine, but I will give you this, the encoding is where OBS is spending most of its time.
