Question / Help OBS Causing GPU to overheat...

As the title says, when I start streaming I can perfectly for about 5-15 minutes until my GPU overheats... Everything runs fine without OBS but *IF* OBS is actively streaming my GPU starts gaining temp it cant get rid of until... my PC suddenly restarts. the only settings that aren't default CBR padding and a custom buffer of 25k. So, am i missing something? Do I have some settings wrong?

p.s. GPU is about a year old, bought new, it is a 'XFX Radeon R9 270x DD'

as a sidenote your settings are really weird and the 8350 cant handle 1080p60 on veryfast preset no matter what (except "maybe" as a streaming only machine doubt it though)

Whats weird about the settings? also how can 8350 not handle it? The CPU is fine, the GPU is the issue, it only overheats when streaming, any other time its cool and quiet. Could it be that I'm using x64 OBS?

Maybe get watercooling with such a medium end card. or a better video card...
I can stream and game at maximun setting fine with my card. (linux works better than windows for me in my experience)
http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-R9-270X-vs-GeForce-GTX-970
the 970 uses MUCH less power than 270x, imo don't buy AMD.
your power bill will love you.
your streaming and gaming capability will love you more.

your bitrate/buffer settings are more than just randomly typed in numbers.

if you go through the forums most of the people running amd cpus fx8320/8350 start having terrible performance issues starting at around 720p60.

64bit obs doesnt do anything.

your gpu is somewhat damaged or you changed fan profiles because obs obviously uses part of the gpu to capture graphical output, but it should not even start using more than 2% gpu. check your fan profile maybe run your fans with custom settings on 100% and see if your gpu still overheats.

to mazza...

270x is the "good" entry gaming level gpu which serves performance for 1080p gameplay without any problem.

yes nvidia is more efficient but 270x compared to a 760/960 whatever performs equally while costing around 30€ less (not talking about the cheapest of the cheapest im talking about decent cooled ones)

power bill? you will probably save 3€.. well lets just say 5€ a year and after usually 3 years you upgrade, but lets pretend you upgrade after 5 so you still would have saved another 5€. (not a valid point)

why is nvidia actually better? well probably the reason for the driver support and all the fancy bonus features you need or dont need which are neat i guess. dont get me wrong amd does also have a bunch of nice features reasons why i only dislike amd cpus and now gpus :)
