OBS branch with AMD VCE support.

It's all nice if stuff works fine on Win8, but you can't just leave the biggest target group.
That's the worst thing you can really do as a good devoloper/coder. Nothing personal Jack of course

OffTopic: Please for the love of god @dping, learn already how to use the edit function so you don't keep spaming :P
In every other forum you would have gotten a warning or worse already ^^

Its very difficult on the phone brother, Maybe, next time I'll just use @'s ;)

Actually plain game capture seems to work mostly. Did you have monitor capture enabled? It looks to be pretty iffy on Win7.

AMD GCN performance tweaks guide suggests:
GCN Performance Tip 50: Avoid heavy switching between compute and rendering
jobs. Jobs of the same type should be done consecutively.
Notes: GCN drivers have to perform surface synchronization tasks when switching
between compute and rendering tasks. Heavy back-and-forth switching may therefore
increase synchronization overhead and reduce performance.

Eh... E: That could only apply to when you're using compute in a game itself though, hopefully.

Eh...

I think someone suggested window capture for 1080 in a previous build, I cant recall when. On another note, Local recording, I had no issue with 1080@30 for game capture with @OliverMD's settings. but 1080@60 wouldn't even capture over a few frames.

Do you have the link for the list of GCN performance tweaks?

EDIT: nevermind I googled it :D

Nope, was using Game Capture as i always do and it runs like arse for me as said above.

EDIT: Hm weird. Just did a test recording and 1080p@40FPS+Balanced preset worked fine for some reason :||
Still can't use Quality Preset with 40FPS though, but still it looks really good so there is that.

Weird, Your log the other day (Saturday) showed Monitor capture..https://obsproject.com/forum/attachments/2014-09-27-1652-57-log.4099/

I see this last log showed game. Good to know about 40fps, I should test more on this and other settings

Wait it did? Weird..must have been activated without me knowing or wanting it..got no other explanation for it :/
But then again i must say that for a very small amount of games i need Monitor capture since GC won't work.

EDIT: Got a last question. As we know CFR activates something like CQP/CRF if I'm not mistaking.
Was testing and it seems like VBR finally stays at the max bitrate i set it too but i obv have to deactivate CFR.
My question now is, would you recommend CFR on or does it only matter for quality but not the performance?

EDIT: Yup you should really try using 40FPS instead of 48. Looks and runs really really good.
EDIT2: What reminds me. @jackun got any news about DVR/Replay working with AMF again?

CFR is mainly used if you are going to be using a second program to edit a video (i.e.Sony Vegas). There are programs out there to fill in any slow/fast, missing frames. CFR just keeps the frames closer to the frame rate desired under video.

that being said, If I stream to hitbox, they recommend it off; twitch.tv, recommends it on.

That was the original use of CFR in OBS.
Pretty sure i heard Jack talking about how CFR changes the way OBS controls the bitrate with VCE.

I wont have time to test for a few days, so I was wondering if someone could tell me if there are any major differences b/w using OpenCL and AMF when streaming.

Quality from what i know mostly.
OffTopic: Just had another driver reset.after just 11min recording :|| It's slowly really pissing me off and ruining the fun.
And no, it couldn't had have anything to do with the temps since i was just playing Mount and Blade Warband :/

EDIT: Catalyst 14.9 Driver for Windows & Linux is available now http://t.co/gLXlkxlA4L

Took the time to completely deinstall my driver with DDU and installed the new one after.
Bet it won't help but you can never know i guess. Also cleaning up can't hurt.

Weird thing, I just had a driver crash similar to my driver crash the other day; I'm not sure the driver crash is caused by OBS
No, it's win 8.1.

I had a frozen frame (meaning it streams 1 frame then bitrate at 0, nothing after that yet still "streaming/recording". This was on Windows 8.1 but I was streaming at 1080/60fps. 1080/30fps worked fine at Balanced and Speed presets though. I was using MFT.

@OliverMD Yaay multiquote!

That sucks. I'm on Windows Pro 8.1 with the 14.8 drivers on a 270x. No crashes since updating. Any particular reason you have the 14.9 drivers? I stick to WHQL drivers.

Why not? Normally i stay with final driver only too, but every now and then i make exceptions for beta ones.
If you're trying to say that the beta driver make OBS crash, not the case since i had the same issue with 14.4
