OBS blacks out, crashes after an app closes, and is unresponsive on certain sources

Hi,

I have three problems :

On games that require a lot of ressources (The Last of Us, Alan Wake 2, Control), the stream information, and the chat window goes black, also some sources disappear (chat, clock, controller). I changed the settings to go from 4K to 1080p on CQP 20 but the issue is still here.

I have also another problem where my clock and controller source are unresponsive on my end when OBS is in background but goes well when checking the stream on my phone.

And lastly, sometimes, when I change game capture’s source, the stream crashes. OBS seems to work fine, but the stream stops. I just checked now, I don't even need to change the source, it seem to crash when I quit the game to desktop. I have tried to disable HDR but the issue stays. Thanks !

While it's not a fix, if I change the source to a 2nd game while the first isn't closed, it seems like it works, so the issue might only be when a games closes. But is there a better thing do to than this workaround ?

1. The Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling ("HAGS") feature in Windows is currently known to cause performance and capture issues with OBS, games and overlay tools. It's an experimental feature and we recommend disabling it via these instructions.
2. Your GPU was maxed out and OBS couldn't render and encode scenes fast enough 0.1% of the time. Running a game without vertical sync or a frame rate limiter will frequently cause performance issues with OBS because your GPU will be maxed out. OBS requires a little GPU to render your scene.

Enable V/G-sync or set a reasonable frame rate limit (144, 120, 60) that your GPU can handle without hitting 100% usage.

If that's not enough you may also need to turn down some of the video quality options in the game. If you are experiencing issues in general while using OBS, your GPU may be overloaded for the settings you are trying to use.

Please check our guide for ideas why this may be happening, and steps you can take to correct it: GPU Overload Issues.

If still having issues, uninstall vertical canvas and win capture audio plugins. If still having issues, post new log.

Hi !
I've disabled HAGS, uninstalled Vertical, and it doesn't fix the 2nd issue (problem where my clock and controller source are unresponsive on my end when OBS is in background but goes well when checking the stream on my phone). It looks like the third one ( when I change game capture’s source, the stream crashes) has been fixed though. As for the first issue (On games that require a lot of ressources (The Last of Us, Alan Wake 2, Control), the stream information, and the chat window goes black, also some sources disappear (chat, clock, controller). I changed the settings to go from 4K to 1080p on CQP 20 but the issue is still here), I'm currently playing Sleeping Dogs and it appears that it doesn't take as much resources so I don't think it's a valid game to test it out.
Thanks !
