I see your conversation with Jack0r and Jim too. I'm happy you finally removed your Dxtory source but in the last log you used a game that isn't ever going to work with a game capture source (it's Flash-based and doesn't work with game capture for anyone), so a log file from that attempt doesn't really help. Please test with a different game and post a log file of the results.

Ok, this is me trying to hook The Forest, this time it seems to think that it's working, yet it isn't, and previous logs before it would give me a sort of hook capture error code 5.

My issue is that even though it says it's hooked, I get only a black screen.

I've also tried deleting the entire OBS file in roaming, but it did nothing.

Error code 5 means "access denied." Does The Forest have some kind of strict anti-cheat measures implemented? If so you could try enabling the anti-cheat compatibility checkbox in the game capture source.

Have you triple-checked that you aren't running any other software that includes any sort of overlay that can be displayed in your games? Examples include but are not limited to EVGA Precision, MSI Afterburner, Razer GameBooster, Razer Synapse, Dolby Axon, TS3 and Mumble Overlays, Fraps, Dxtory, the Curse Client, Raptr, Overwolf, etc. Some antivirus programs like AVG have also been known to break game capture, so be sure to whitelist the OBS directory. Some games also require that OBS is run as administrator, so right-clicking on the OBS shortcut and selecting "Run as administrator" can help correct the problem in some cases.

I've tried anti-cheat, but I do run AVG, so i'll look into whitelisting it, and then I'll send another log of results.

Whitelisting, and disabling is doing nothing. :/ Aswell the current logs aren't having the error anymore, nothings appearing anymore.

Listen, I realize this is frustrating but whenever I see the game capture hook log empty like that it almost always means there's a conflict that's preventing game capture from working: (semi copy&paste) These could be other capture programs (dxtory but I think we've already ruled that out), game mods and graphics mods (sweetfx in particular), graphics card utilities like msi afterburner or the EVGA 'K boost' feature (I think it's called), or programs that put in custom in-game overlays for their program, such as teamspeak/mumble overlays, or razer synapse overlay

It's difficult to be able to tell remotely. Perhaps I could take a look on teamviewer some time to verify, but generally I'm just telling you what I know based upon experience (I was the one who wrote it)

I understand that, and my issue is very oddball, but I tell you now, I have nothing new that would do something like your saying, and it use to work fine before, then one day it wouldn't capture the game, and I mean this by on the stream it happened, it was capturing, I changed the game, and then it wouldn't capture anymore.

From any of the previous logs, can you see anything that I should look into? Aswell, my system is windows 8.1, is that an issue?

The fact that it used to work fine sort of proves my point, something changed, and something is probably interfering. Game capture doesn't have many options that you can mess up, the only real options that impact it are the window selection and the hotkey.

Things do not really spontaneously just stop working out of nowhere, there is always a cause, in this case we are simply unaware of what that cause is.

Like I said I could try teamviewer some time to see what's going on with the computer, though I can't really guarantee anything (and can't guarantee I'll always be around to do it but if you have time you should check occasionally in chat)

Now, is there anything you can tell me that will give me the basic idea of what programs will do something like this?

Basically the stuff I listed in that one previous post. It's not a comprehensive list, we don't have a full comprehensive list yet but those are examples of the type of programs and types of features that some programs have.

Hmm ok, I've tried exiting Skype, removing dropbox (this happened around the time I downloaded it) and have tried disabling steam overlay, yet to find a black screen, but in the log no errors to the hooks, which is leading me to think that it may be some sort of error with NVENC, or with my graphics adapter updates, any other ideas about what it may be? There really isn't anything else that gives an overlay. I tend to keep very few things running at once when streaming anyway, and them most of the time being, Chrome, Skype, Steam, AVG, OBS.

Just received this error when trying to capture 7 Days To Die.
21:38:00: Trying to hook process: 7DaysToDie.exe
Warning -- GraphicsCaptureSource::AttemptCapture: Failed to inject library, error code = 5
21:38:13: Capture window 0x001206C6 invalid or changing, terminating capture

I also uninstalled AVG, didn't do anything. :/

helping other people on the forums.

and like I said, OpenGL games seem to work for some reason. If say I launch starbound, I can't game capture, if I launch OpenGL version, I can game capture.
