Question / Help OBS and Elgato HD60

I recently purchased an Elgato HD60 so I can stream my Wii U, but whenever I go live, there are some problems with delay

It's not that there is delay, but over time when live, it constantly adds more and more delay, meaning I am reacting to things happening before they happen on stream

e.g.

after 20 minutes, there will be 10 seconds of delay

After 60 minutes, there will be 30 seconds of delay

Any suggestions?

I purchased an HD60 in December since my Elgato HD was very useful, but unfortunately, I had the same problem as you with increasing delays and even audio de-sync. I spent a couple of weeks researching forums after hearing the OBS developers claiming the issue was on Elgato's side, not theirs, and found no solutions. It does record 60FPS wonderfully though in it's own software but it won't even handle 30FPS in OBS compared to it's older model.

I finally gave up and returned it (through the merciful Amazon) and purchased the internal Aver Media C985 capture card that fits into a PCI-Express slot. So far, I love it with it's instant load time compared to Elgato's "Connecting to Device" image every time you initiated a recording or preview and a hardly noticeable lag between the real game and the OBS preview for easier audio sync with a mic. It even has a build in encoding processor for less load on your CPU.

But enough about me glorifying another product. All I can suggest is if you really want to keep the HD60, keep a sharp eye for any news on a future OBS/Elgato update that will address the issue but until then it's practically useless in OBS. If you can't wait, it'd be best to settle with the HD model which is significantly cheaper or the Aver Media Live Portable & C985 products.

I bet you were looking forward to record some Smash Bros or Mario Kart 8 60FPS footage... so was I :(
Soon, my friend, soon.

Good luck!
