Question / Help OBS 64 bits

So I currently have a 64 bits system and I am using 32 bits OBS since I cannot find a 64 bits version. Would it be recommended to switch to 64 bits? If so I would love to get a download link since I really can't find it anywhere.

It is in the 64bit folder in your OBS installation directory.

I find that, using the 32-bit version of OBS, performs and runs smoother than the 64-bit.

Unless you have a device that doesn't have proper 64bit drivers always use the 64bit version as it will be around 5% faster in encoding. Everything else will be identical.

I still can't get OBS 64 bit! At first I thought it was because I was using a 32 bit browser, but when I used a 64 bit browser it still downloaded the 32 bit version. Where can I find it?

Mindy, it downloads both. The 64-bit version is in a subdirectory ('64bit') under the 32-bit installation.

A web browser is definetely not related to what version of OBS you download :)
Both versions, as mentioned above, are already in the archive (or executable) your download.

You know what would have been smarter than just adding a screenshot of what we need? Explaining from when you clicked download to how you got to that folder. I've searched everything on my PC that has OBS attatched and this does not exist.

Someone else had a brain though, go to the downloads page, click Binaries and when you open that after it downloads it has a 32 bit and 64 bit version. Simply hitting the download button only yields you the 32 bit version and everything these people keep shouting at you makes no sense because you literally DON'T have the 64 bit folder. No matter how many times in a row they tell you that you do. Nice community help.....NOT.

The installer installs BOTH 32 and 64 bit. The installer is what the "Download" button is. 32bit OBS is now installed to C:\Program Files (x86)\OBS and 64bit OBS is now installed to C:\Program Files\OBS. Note the difference in the Program Files folders.

If you're *really* searched everywhere you would have been able to find this.

The installer should also create the appropriate start menu shortcuts. Under Windows 8 it looks of course different compared to the screenshot, but they are still there under start.

Now I'm curious how the update handles this... if it splits the old 64-bit subdirectory off and creates a new one in Program Files (on 64-bit systems) or if it maintains the old directory paths unless you uninstall and reinstall it.

I did search my program files and my program files (x86), and it wasn't there. I dumped all my files and re-installed it and went to all target directories with OBS in the name and nothing with 64 bit existed. I triple checked before being sarcastic with my reply and just did it again and still only yielded the 32 bit version. Maybe your PC handled it differently but there wasn't any folder with 64 bit in it until I clicked the binaries link. My statement still stands. Instead of a picture, detailed instructions of how to get from Point A-Downloading OBS to point B-It being in 64 bits should have been explained for the "answer". I did it and you only re-iterated the same thing again. Can you tell me one more time to go to my program files and look in my obs folder for 64 bit when it isn't there? That'd be super, thanks. Oh, it's not there? Ok, well if you go to your program files and click OBS it'll be 64 bits not 32. Oh, it's not there? Well, if you go to program files and go to OBS........

Floyd, the updated version ('new method') installs the 32-bit version to (default) C:\Program Files (x86)\OBS while the 64-bit version is installed to (again, default) C:\Program Files\OBS at the same time.
This is a very old thread, which was meant to address the original behaviour of installing all of it to C:\Program Files (x86)\OBS, and creating a \64-bit subdirectory from there for the 64-bit version. That is no longer the case, with new installs. The installer should also put shortcuts to both the 32 and 64 bit versions into the start menu if a 64-bit OS is detected. If it isn't, something has gone wrong.

The screenshots you're getting pissed off about are from almost half a year ago, when the program installed differently.

I cant open the 64bit version. When I click on Open Broadcaster Software (64-bit) I get an error message that says " The program can't start because d3dx10_43.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem " I have reinstalled it several times and the same thing happens. I am using Windows 8.1 Can anybody help please?

You need to install DirectX. Closing this thread since it references an issue from last year that's no longer relevant.
