Question / Help NVENC streaming pixelation

Dear all,

I don't have a very beast computer (to say the least), I do however have the GTX970.
Really the only way for me to stream is through the NVENC encoder or Shadowplay.
The downside of shadowplay is i can't use any overlays or twitchalert.
Though the quality and especially the pixelation is okay.

Via OBS and NVENC, I get pretty good quality. If i stand still :p.
The pixelation is pretty bad when moving around.
I know and I have read NVENC is not really the best for streaming.
But I do not have another option (believe me).
Untill I can afford to upgrade my pc I'll have to use NVENC.

I was just wondering, what presets, encoding profiles, bitrates, downscaling or no downscaling, 30fps or 60fps would result in less pixelation through nvenc encoding.
Also if anyone knows, why is it that shadowplay gives me less pixelation than nvenc. Is it not encoded same way?

Please advise :)

Regards,
Alex

It's anyone's guess why shadowplay works better. I've noticed that OBS with NVENC has a system performance hit too, unlike shadowplay. I guess nVidia has their own tools for using it? Either way, it could simply be that shadowplay is using more bitrate or has some hidden setting enabled that helps it a bit... but it is a very "fast" encoder which means it does not use much compression, and it's basically all bitrate. Quicksync is the same.

If you want quality, x264 is the way to go. x265 might change things up if it's ever introduced, but it's doubtful streaming services will introduce it anytime soon.
