Question / Help Not dropping frames but having lag spikes on chrome?

So I tried streaming a game in google chrome earlier and the results were displeasing:

And that is probably a problem posted on the forums, but what's weird is that

1. On the bottom where it says 'Dropped Frames:' it says 0 frames,
2. When playing on game capture, I don't get lag spikes:

I would assume it's something in the settings so I tried disabling aero but that really didn't fix anything.

Sound keeps playing but the picture freezes. It could be on the server side. Switch the server and see if it still occurs.
There is an OBS plugin that lets you ping servers.

The log has a line saying:
Number of frames skipped due to encoder lag: 7417 (19.02%)

You'll want to lower stream FPS to 30, your cpu can't keep up at 60. (in settings -> video) edit2: or lower the super cpu heavy encoding preset you have set to something faster.

Or use game capture, if that works. (you can capture that game in full screen (alt+enter) using the F12 to select source setting in your game capture properties)

edit: Osu! takes very little to encode, compared to a game where you move the view around constantly. So I think you'd have the same problems with game capture in a game that features more movement on the whole screen at once.

edit2: Kinda awk the cpu is struggling at 60fps 480p, so I found this in your log file:

preset: slow

try faster/fast for x264 preset, veryfast is the default and it's pretty good already. Slow is just way past the point of diminishing returns per cpu usage kicking in. Even medium would be a lot less cpu usage at similar quality.

One more question, on the game
(http://fenglee.com/game/aog/)
I don't think I can record full screen + game capture because whenever I try to select it, I have to tab out in some way or another and that always sends it into the usual window on chrome so then I can't select it. If I try to just use game capture on the actual chrome itself it gives me a white screen when I go into full screen, so do I just need to use game capture on windowed mode? (It's a lot more difficult to play on the eyes)

add a game capture source to obs, select "Use Hotkey" at creation or in properties of an existing game capture. Default hotkey is F12 (you can change it right in the game capture properties as well)

Then, you just press the hotkey after you went into fullscreen and it should start capturing and displaying the game in the game capture source.

Sometimes it stops capturing after tabbing out and re initiating fullscreen though. But it works for the most part for me c;
