No Hardware Encoder Option For Streaming

Hi guys, I've been using OBS to record videos for about a year now, decided I want to stream on twitch too. I was getting a lot of lag and 300%+ cpu load so I've looked on other forums and they suggest to go into stream settings and change the software encoder to hardware encoder. In the drop down menu I can see the hardware encoder option for recording settings however it isn't showing up in the streaming settings. I will attach a photo below. I'm on an iMac (24-inch, M1, 2021).

Did you find any solution for this? I also would like to send my stream to a separate hardware encoder through HDMI, instead of sending my stream directly from OBS.

That's a completely different issue.
  • Some internal GPU's can encode video. That's what OP is talking about. No HDMI involved at all.
  • If it's a separate physical box, then you don't care about anything in the original post.
Both are called "hardware encoding", but they're not at all the same thing. If you're on the other side of that difference, you're probably better off starting a new thread.
