Question / Help No DX source works: cuInit(0) - failed with error code 0x64

Hi

I can't record any directx game in full screen. The video is a black screen with sound.

I tried almost everything (with aero, without aero, with admin rights, without admin rights, 64bit and 32bit; every possible combination).

So something is wrong the way an image reaches the recorder from my graphic card. I suspected my driver but then I checked the log, which only says:

10:23:38: Settings::Video: Disabling Aero
10:23:45: CUDA loaded successfully
10:23:45: >> cuInit(0) - failed with error code 0x64

That's the entire log from my last game recording attempt.

I have an AMD Radeon card and no nVidia. I had a GTX card some months ago (for testing performance)... but I deinstalled the drivers before I built in the AMD card again and downloaded and installed the AMD drivers.
The device manager shows only my AMD card.

Relevant stats (short):

Windows 7 HP 64bit (up-to-date)
AMD Radeon HD 4770 (catalyst version 13.9 [up-to-date])
OBS 64bit v0.612b

Any ideas for help?

Regards,
RA

Which games have you tried capturing with game capture, and which game were you trying to capture in the above log?

Do you have any other programs running that have overlays or graphical mods?

I tried:
Need for Speed Hot Pursuit (the recent remake not the very old version)
Pid (via Steam)
Port Royale 3
Anno 2070 (Uplay)
Guild Wars 2
Guacamelee

And in the log it was Port Royale... or Need for Speed. It says PortRoyale3.exe at the bottom so I guess it was PR3.

I had Fraps running (not recording) to get a FPS counter, since OBS doesn't have one.

But Fraps doesn't matter.
Just tried without and no change.

I've only my anti-virus running in the background (Bitdefender), but it's set on 'game mode' so it won't disturb me while playing.

I think I'll deinstall OBS and install an older version and try. I know that some months ago I managed to record Port Royale. But I don't know whether it was at that time I had the GTX card installed or the Radeon one.

I would try temporarily disabling your anti-virus to see if that's the culprit.

I cannot deactivate my anti-virus guard. Bitdefender is manipulation-proof, so malware can't do that either.
It has no option for that in the right-click menu. Killing the process won't work (not even with admin rights). Disabling the service won't work. All I can do is deinstall it. Which I'll do in 30 days when my paid year of updates expires.

An older version of OBS doesn't work for games either.

I've no clue why game recording won't work.
Maybe because I've other game recording software installed?
I was and am testing which offers what and runs smoothly... and except for 2, that make my games crash, the rest works well.
