Question / Help No console game sound output

Hey Everyone,

I have been using OBS for a while, and I am mainly a PC game streamer, but recently I got a PS4 and want to stream my gameplay on there through twitch as well. Here is the situation I am running into.

I just got a AverMedia Live Gamer HD, got it installed and everything is working. Display, web cam, overlay, broadcast settings and everything. When I preview the stream or go live to twitch, I can see everything just fine - the problem however is the sound from the console isn't being broadcasted. Every setting I could find, tweak, adjust, and try out has been to no avail. My stream just outputs the sound from my streaming PC, nothing from the ps4 at all.

Here is the setup -

ps4 -> hdmi in avermedia -> avermerdia hdmi out -> benq monitor.

If anyone has an ideas that would be awesome, or if you have gone through this an know the fix... I am all ears right now.

PS, if we get the sound working, will the stream pic up my mic through the usb headset connected to the ps4?

thanks guys

I believe that Video SerialDigital In should be the input in the crossbar, not Audio SPDIFDigital In.

Input 0 : Video SerialDigital IN Output 0 : Video Decoder Out

Then when I check the audio, via the drop down in output selecting audio decoder out (there isnt one for input) I have two options

I've tried re-adding the source, recreating the scene, nothing seems to get the audio from the ps4 to go through the capture card :-/

Im about to throw in the towel :0

I would think someone out in the world would of had this problem but I can't find anything anywhere.

Nothing :0 all i hear is pc audio and ambient room noise from my mic plugged into the pc - its just like it over rides the HDMI with my audio device on the pc.

full reinstall of all drivers and obs didn't do anything either, dunno where to go next.... this is a brand new PC and a brand new AverMedia card :(

Does it work if you try to record in RECentral? Is your PS4 set to output audio over HDMI?

Ok.... making progress.....

My headset that I use is a Razer Kraken Pro - I use it for both my PC and PS4 -

When I first tried to stream with OBS and no headset attached to the pc, I kept getting errors about failing to initialize without audio device, even though I had the video capture device audio set.

With that I plugged in my old siberas (3.5mm connectors) to the PC, and kept the Kracken in the PS4-

I just unplugged everything, put the Kracken into the PC and tried to stream and I could hear the audio from my PS4!

Only problem now, is that I use that Headset for gaming on the PS4, and need it plugged into the PS4.... any suggestions?

I did not know you used a Kraken. That is a common problem with Krakens. Try using 64bit OBS, or run msconfig and disable the Kraken Launcher from startup and reboot, and you should not get the initialization failure anymore.
