Newbie with a problem

I'm trying to set up my Windows 11 Pro (V23H2) computer to record tonight's "The Daily Show" but when I select BROWSER under SOURCES and enter https://watch.spectrum.net/livetv as the URL, Spectrum comes up but it says "Update Required, To continue watching Spectrum TV, please update to the latest version of Chrome, Edge or Firefox." (see attached). All my browsers are up to date so I'm not sure what's going on.

Am I doing something wrong?

When using OBS Browser Source, that is a different Browser from any you've installed at the Operating System level (a version of Chrome, if I recall correctly and I may easily be not remembering... see release notes for details. If I recall correctly, the OBS Browser is NOT updated any near the frequency of native Chrome).

To avoid bootlegging (terms of service violation, illegal in some areas) of copyrighted content, some streaming platforms copy-protect their streams. Most likely, the OBS Studio provided browser does not meet whatever requirements the streamer (in this case Spectrum) has decided to impose.

So, instead of [OBS Studio built-in] Browser source, use Window or Display Capture and capture your Operating System running browser of choice. However, don't be surprised if copy-protection interferes.

Also, OBS Studio is designed for compositing.. ie combining multiple Audio and Video sources. OBS Studio is a fairly complex tool, and is overkill for a simpel Screen Recording (native tool in Operating System). That isn't to say there aren't good reason to use OBS Studio...

Thanks Lawrence. I tried both the Windows and Display captures but while I got the audio, the video wasn't there so apparently it's being blocked. I guess at this point I'll just have to get up at 11:00 to watch the show live!

Hi, I have the same problem, and have already posted about it at https://obsproject.com/forum/thread...he-obs-studio-browser-stopped-working.172798/ . Here the answer to the thread initiator is that no update of the internal OBS Chrome browser is in the pipeline, unfortunately.
To Restoman1 I can suggest you to deactivate "Hardware acceleration" in the external Chrome browser (installed by yourself) under settings>system, this fixed the black screen for me and makes screen/window recording possible.
To Lawrence_SoCal, I have newer got screen or window recording with OBS to work as elegant and smooth as when recording via OBS browser, it becomes jumpy, asynchronous and needs lower resolution and FpS, (allthough my laptop is a decent Thinkpad with AMD Ryzen 7 CPU with Radeon Gfx 2.30 GHz and 16 GB ram that records perfect with the internal OBS browser), and occupies the screen while recording. That is why an update is very much appreciated.
In the meanwhile, if OBS is overkill as you write, what other app or software can you suggest to do simple broadcast recording, not being dependent on the broadcast occupying ones screen?
