Hi

I am competely new to this.

I am streaming an event in a couple of weeks time. This event is located at a school, which has their systems locked down by their provider.

to run this to stream to YouTube, do I need to get any ports opened up please? Any other tips that will help me along?

You just need the connection to the youtube stream ingest servers to be not blocked and have sufficient bandwidth to run the stream.
 
I am testing at the school and from the laptop we cannot connect to the server when trying to stream to twitch. YouTube is blocked by the provider.
 
The only thing you could probably do is relay through a service like restream.io

Otherwise, you're going to need to contact the school internet provider to get the stream servers unblocked.
