Question / Help New streamer issues (Twitch)

Two questions.

First, I was playing around adding and deleting scenes, and had a GTAV (game) window capture going. I've streamed it before, everything was fine. But somewhere, OBS stopped detecting the game, and I can no longer capture GTAV. The last thing I can remember doing was changing the in-game setting for GTAV from windowed to full screen, and adding and deleting scenes and sources. I don't know if it's related, but GTAV is no longer on the list of window capture sources. It still seems to pick up other games, browser windows, etc, but it doesn't see GTAV anymore. Is it something simple? I streamed it with the game in full screen before, so I know it works.I've restarted OBS, the game, the computer, etc. No dice. Still not detecting it.

Secondly, is there a way to maintain the webcam cropping and sizing between scenes? If I make it a global source, it retains the options, but not the sizing. If I add the webcam global source to a new scene, it's once again taking up the entire screen, and must be cropped and resized again, and I can never eyeball it back to the same dimensions.

Thanks.

Fullscreen games need to be captured with Game Capture, not Window, as it's handled differently by Windows, and Rockstar didn't include a fullscreen-windowed mode.

Global is how all webcams (and capture cards, hardware devices) should be created. As far as maintaining the same size, you have two real options:
- Edit the text config file by hand, and set everything exactly
- Keep a template scene with basic elements and duplicate/copy it

I do the latter, as it's MUCH faster. To the point I have a template scene-set and make any changes there, then iterate off it for specific games or holiday themes. Keeps things a lot more consistent across the board, and swapping out artwork is a lot easier than changing the 'structural elements', so to speak.

I completely derped on the GTA thing and answered my own question. Thanks for the tip. I'll try the template copying.

Here's a new (I would assume) unrelated issues when recording video to test everything. The webcam video and audio are in sync when the game is minimized, but when I maximize the game and play it, it's out of sync, and the game audio and video are out of sync with eachother. Anyone know what causes that or how to fix it?

We'd need to see a logfile, but it sounds like you're running into CPU load issues. You can force desktop audio to use video timestamps, but that can cause problems all its own.
