Question / Help New NVENC Presets?

Well I just tested NVENC with my stream to see exactly how bad the quality would be at my current setting. I have a lot of viewers who watch over a mobile 3g connection so I tend to use a lower bitrate and I have to admit, I'm seeing very little difference in quality with this.

My setup
720p @ 30fps
NVENC set to High Quality Low Latency preset
Max Bitrate 1500kbs

My rig
i5 3570k
GTX 760 4gb
16gb ram

heres the test session highlight on twitch

Same video streamed at same bitrate using x264
http://www.hitbox.tv/video/400806

I streamed to both twitch and hitbox at the same time using low bitrate for testing purposes. Hitbox I stream using x264, twitch I used NVENC. enjoy the quality comparison

The nvenc really looks good. My CPU seems to not be able to pack x264 1920x1080 30FPS without having 100% cpu load which makes the game feel laggy.

Can anyone here recommend a suitable setting for nvenc? I could stream with a bitrate up to 4000.

I think it won't look good at streaming bitrates no matter what the preset. X264 will always have better quality.

Not as good, of course not. But its very watchable and not bad at all. I stream at 2000 and my viewers have no complaints, on a mobile app viewing on a phone (as many viewers do now) most can't tell the difference.

I don't want to scare people away from using it or trying it. It's a great option for people who have trouble encoding with x264 due to not having a top of the line pc. The drop in quality, in my opinion, is worth it for the performance increase if you're having trouble with CPU usage
