Just happened trying to record today
I'm running MacOS Ventura 13.6 with a Radeon Pro 570X 4 GB GPU on an Intel 3 GHz i5 machine.
Over the weekend I installed source record for camera and display recording and to keep things running well for OBS and my computer, I set recording all outputs to use Apple VT Hardware H264 without issues. The only issues I noticed with this was that when closing OBS, it would freeze, and then sometimes quit unexpectedly or need to be forced to close. As far as I remember, this only started happening after installing source record. I could record and stream just fine using my hardware encoder last weekend and yesterday, but today when trying to either record or stream, it would give me this error message "Starting the output failed. If you are using the NVENC or AMD encoders, make sure your video drivers are up to date."
I cannot think of anything else that I changed to make this start happening.
x264 does work and so do both Apple VT software encoders. I'd rather not use software to encode because that'll tax my system so much more, but it at least works. This started when I had OBS version 31.0.2. I installed the latest version 31.0.3, but that just refused to open full stop. I then downgraded to the version that I had before which was 31.0.0, but that didn't fix things.
Now I have read on here before that Apple VT encoding options on OBS are notoriously hit or miss when it comes to stability, but it sucks that it suddenly no longer seems to work. Is anyone able to work out what happened and what a potential fix is?
Thanks
