Question / Help New Issue - Audio Lag on Console.

Im using the Avermedia Live Gamer HD capture card, while streaming, everything is fine untill about 3 hours into the stream, then I notice the audio starts to lag behind the game. My Mic and Web Cam audio are still in perfect syce tho.

Ok, heres another, but its weird, im not seeing logs for every day, like my last log was on the 22ed, with a whole bunch of them listed, next one was on 25th, again, this only happens when doing capture via aver media, for console.

Try turning on "use buffering" -- apparently there's an issue with it switching resolutions that can cause delay right now.

Ah sorry, I should have stated. It's in the properties of the device source that you're using for the C985. Let me know if you still have issues with it okay?

Im assuming that when you say the "properties of the device" You are referring to configure when I have the capture card selected under obs's video capture, it opens up aver media's properties there, but again I see nothing there that lets me click anything saying "Use buffering"

I have a very similar issue with audio. I have been streaming gameplay from a WiiU using the Live Gamer Portable (C875). Everything starts out in sync, but after roughly 30 mins, you can start to tell that the game audio from the LGP is losing sync with the gameplay video. It appears to consistently lag about 1 second for every hour of recorded gameplay. Switching scenes seems to reset it, so the only work around I have come up with so far is to take a quick break every 30 mins.

My Microphone does not appear to be losing sync as even after multiple hours it still matches the Webcam ok.

To my understanding, "Force Audio Timestamps to Sync to Video Time" would not help as the audio that is lagging is from the LGP and being played right into the stream without going through my desktop audio. For giggles, I tried enabling it anyway, but in my testing it did not resolve my issue.

I tried enabling "Use Buffering" on the LGP for 130 ms, but it made no difference. I recorded for 4 hours straight, and by the end of the stream the game audio was lagging behind the gameplay video by roughly 4 seconds. During the test I was monitoring CPU usage and it stayed between 30-55%, so this should not be a performance issue.

I am using OBS v0.584b, C875 Stream Engine v1.0.0.35, LGP Firmware v9.

I would be happy to provide a log or settings file if it will help someone track down this bug. I'm new to these forums though, so I'm not sure how you normally collect such information. I've been digging around the internet for a few hours now and found quite a few people posting about a similar bug, but I have found no working solution. If this just can't be fixed until the "rewrite" that I've seen Jim mention in several posts, so be it. But I'd sure love to see this figured out!

Actually live gamer portable has some issue that seems to occur regardless of use buffering. I don't know what's going on with it.

But 4 seconds? With use buffering enabled? That sounds way too out of sync for an audio subsystem problem. The audio subsystem should be *at most* just like a few hundred milliseconds if there's data bursting. I'm really concerned at this point as the only other USB 2.0 device available (elgato) doesn't have this same issue.

I wish USB 2.0 capture devices didn't even exist to be honest, but some people have no choice.

If it gets out of sync you can probably reset it by going into its properties and clicking "OK" to force it to reset, though this is totally unacceptable as a solution to me, so if this is on OBS end (not entirely sure now with what you've said) then there is no real excuse.

I face a conundrum with this, because I am currently rewriting OBS and will eventually rewrite the entire device source to clean it up. If I continue to work on code that will eventually be deprecated, it'll be somewhat of a waste. However, in this particular case I'm starting to lean toward buying the device and seeing what on earth is causing this problem first hand and fixing it for OBS ASAP regardless, as I'd rather not subject users to this for another 2-3 months. This is actually really baffling if it's -that- much actual timing lag. I'm starting to lean toward a potential bug with their stream engine thing. But anyway, at the very least I might be able to make somewhat of a workaround if I can replicate it.

No, it does not. LGHD works flawless. I have it as well.
