Hello everyone! I am sure you have had this question 100x but I can't seem to find someone having a problem (or atleast explaining it how I am going to) similar to mine. O.K. so I want to stream League of Legends, and I know I don't have the greatest upload speed in the world. Here is my information, maybe you can tell me if I can produce a decent stream.

http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3794446847
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) II x4 635 Processor 2.90 GHz
RAM: 8GB
Vid Card: GeForce GT 240

So, I know I don't have the best video card in the world, but I've never had any problems with it. Now on to my explanation of what's happening. I can actually get the stream up and running. The video is decent and my friends that have tuned in to watch it haven't had any complaints. There is 1 problem. As soon as I click "Start Streaming" my ping jumps from around the 95 or so that it's normally at all the way to 550-600. Making it impossible for me to play the game while I am streaming. So what I am asking is, is there any setting I can tweak to get my ping reduced to around normal, or do I have to spend double what I am paying now for internet just to get a max of around 2MB upload?

TL;DR: Can I change settings in OBS to make the game playable and stream on 1MB upload?

Thanks for your time and patience.

We'd need to see a logfile from a live streaming session to make any recommendations on settings changes to make.
Have you tried the Estimator? https://obsproject.com/estimator

Problems:
  • 1mbps upstream is pretty low, and League tends to be network-greedy (hence the ping jumps you've seen). You're probably going to max out at a 360p, or possibly a 480p stream at most. Even then, League is likely going to still pitch a fit because something else is using the network.
  • Your CPU is on the older side. Livestreaming is a VERY CPU-heavy process, due to needing to encode video in real-time. You can still probably get away with it if you downscale to a low resolution, and possibly only run 20-25fps.
  • Video card. This is actually a BIG problem that I had myself. The GT(X) 2** line is notorious for having terrible, slow VRAM that KILLS OBS' performance. Even an upgrade to a budget 450 someone is tossing out will make OBS run a lot better.
So yes... you can. But some upgrades would be quite strongly advised.

I just like to point out, besides hardware wise, I use to stream on a 11mb down and 0.9mb up. As Ferret suggested I would highly consider using that estimator. When I use to stream, the quality was around 480p most times and when you view the stream on full screen [1920x1080] screen everything is clear until you had to read the chat log which isn't a big hassle. When I used to stream on 11:1 my ping averaged around 40-60. It was playable, but it made you feed like you were playing on the NA servers if you are located in Aus.

Any Tips: Your hardware deffinately needs an upgrade as they are some low specs, however set your fps to 20-25, your buffer size around 550-600. That worked for me and it was managable. [Meaning you could still play without any massive issues]

lets set it this way your internet and pc are both not the best for streaming ...

yet you could try something like 480p25fps with a 650 bitrate/buffer and see how this goes
