If this is the wrong section please move it to the proper section.

Mainly directed towards streaming.
I wanna stream Heroes of the Storm and maybe a few other games.

This is my current set up.

As it stands I got about 1200 USD + my money from what I'd get if I sold that parts that I upgraded.

I'm torn between upgrades or a standalone PC made just for Encoding (the stream)

Thoughts?
What is best upgrades to make if I do, or should I settle on building a 3rd (yes 3rd) pc. My wife has her gaming rig that could stream but she is typically playing with me so

I honestly want the absolute best quality I can get.

Within reason.

AKA I don't wanna spend $800 on a capture card when a $200 one would be enough.

ya dig?

RAM is corsair platinum dominator.
1600mhz. Not sure why it shows up like this.

I never really tried to OC my CPU but I would imagine it may be enough?

I've been able to stream but I wanna be able to play itunes/have my stream pulled up/play games while streaming

Encoding is mainly done with the CPU. and by mainly, I mean 90% of the CPUs multi-thread performance comes out with streaming (streaming is one task that will utilize all cores available). I would spend most of your $ there even though I think your 2600K with an overclock would do the trick for 720@60fps stream up to the faster/fast preset depending on the game, but if it was dedicated you could push it further, you could drop that lower with a dedicated CPU. the remaining 10% of encoding is GPU and RAM performance, but the GPU just being a DX11 (full directx 10 performance) would be fine. Other than telling you that, don't get a USB 2.0 cap card, In fact, if you get one, get a PCIE. get a USB 3.0 cap card at second.

Cool

Yeah I think I can push my CPU to 4.5ghz safely

Watercooler on just the cpu is what I have currently.
I'll have to find good settings for OBS
maybe that was my problem originally

720p@60fps would be fine with me

Can you direct me to a good link with my cpu?

also window targetting hots better or just use monitor capture?

Game capture should always be first choice. then add anticheat hook if the game capture is black, then delete that game capture and try window capture, then add compatibility mode if that window capture is black.

720@60fps will need 3500 bitrate to look good. so make sure you have approx 5Mbps upload from your ISP. this leaves room for making sure you can maintain 3500 bitrate for however long you are streaming.

Dropping the preset with your CPU will depend on the game. if its CPU intensive game, then you wont be able to push your preset lower, if its GPU intensive, or not hard on either, then you can drop your preset.
