can anyone help me out? Im having issues were when i do my capture for the webcam the webcam image wont show up even though it shows the webcam and i have it all set up right so it will show over my stream monitor or game capture. I have even tried doing a window capture were i use the sub region to mark out my webcam image then i can get the image up that way but as soon as i click on a page say my twitch desktop and my webcam screen thats being captured gets covered it shows the image thats covering its place and im confused lol, nothing works :( i have the microsoft lifecam HD6000

It was working then it just messed up i have tried re installing both webcam and obs etc.

thanks

Is your webcam above any other sources that might be in front of it? If not, try right-clicking on your webcam in sources and choose Order-->Move Up until you see it.

i have done that and it does not work. The only way i can get the cam up working is if i do the sub region exactly like say Tnotifier and leave my webcam up and running but say if i open chrome and it covors the webcam tile showing the picture it will show the chrome page but only were i set the sub region on obs and its the same with things like tnotifier etc.

I had this problem with the built-in front camera on my Surface Pro 3. For some reason the front would not show up (even though there was a frame around it in edit scene mode) but that back camera works fine. They are both Microsoft Lifecam in the driver so I don't know why there is a difference. I ended up buying a Logitech USB cam instead which worked fine.

I'm having this same problem. When I first turn on OBS after starting my Surface Pro, the front camera will work. But as soon as I make any changes (including turning the camera off and back on, switching to rear camera and back, or turning OBS off and back on), the camera light will come on but it will only display a black screen. No amount of additional changes will fix the issue except for a restart of the entire surface pro.

The only weird thing I've noticed is that if I go into the Video Capture Device settings, it will be set to rear camera. I'll set it to Front Camera, which doesn't fix the issue, but if I hit the "refresh" button in the settings, it will always revert to Rear Camera. This leads me to believe that OBS is still trying to read the Rear Camera for some reason, even though it will still turn on the front camera of the surface pro. Still no idea how to fix this, though, so any advice would be appreciated.

So there is a possibility that your webcam is being used by other program; webcam can only be used once so if another program is "hooking" it, OBS will not display it. make sure this isn't the case.
in the case of the surface, this might be software built in to "monitor" the front cam for facial recognition or whatever. I just got a surface 3 last night so I might take a look and see what I can find out.

Thanks for the response. As far as I know, no other programs are using the camera. A light comes on when it's in use. Even when it's not working with OBS, the light will still come on as soon as I do Preview, Record, or Stream, but it will just show a black screen. It's driving me crazy!
