Question / Help Need help with Avermedia Gl-310 and OBS

HI,

I recently purchased an Avermedia GL-310 and I am looking to stream to twitch using OBS. I am running into a bit of a snag. The capture device itself appears to work, but for some reason OBS will not pick it up. I can get either a red screen or black screen.

I did a lot of searching on this and it seems a lot of the information I am finding is outdated. I have tried adjusting all settings in OBS and reinstalling. Nothing has helped. I read about trying to open a 32bit version of OBS, but when I looked for it I found nothing. Perhaps I missed it, but I would rather reach out to the community for help.

To add more details I am trying to use it with a PS4, but I do not beleive that should be an issue. I just need to figure out how to get the capture card to work with OBS.

I tried that and my problem still persists. Whats weird is when OBS is open the Avermedia software doesn't work. Maybe I just need to reinstall OBS.

The 32-bit version of OBS is installed to C:\Program Files (x86)\OBS, you must add the Stream Engine video capture device to the 32-bit version or it isn't going to work. You can't use the 64-bit version of OBS and you can't add the LGP directly.

I think I may have found a problem. I just got my PS4 and I do not know if HDCP is enabled. I will check that and I will look for the 32bit version of OBS.

So I went and turned off the HDCP and it worked, but when I exited out and went back in I got the red screen again. I do not see a 32bit version of OBS anywhere.

Got the 32bit from OBS, but it doesn't change anything. Still does not show LGP. Starting to think I should have bought an elgato

It won't show Live Gamer Portable, it should show the Avermedia Stream Engine. Is the stream engine started? Perhaps try reinstalling that?

Hi, I hate to bring up this post out the bottom of the pile. But I am having the same issue. Except mine is an Xbox One.
So, basically I have gone through all steps outlined in the above posts.
  • Installed all software for GL-310, including Stream engine.
  • Used the 32 bit version of OBS
But how do you add the stream engine to the 32 bit OBS version as mentioned @Sapiens? Sorry, I are N00b. Maybe this is where I am going wrong :/

Hey there,
I'm sure i'm too late now and you have either already figured something out or replaced your capture card but i wanna tell you what i did.
I have run through the same problem and the exact same thing happened, after disabling the HDCP from the PS4 it worked for one session and then when i restarted it went back to the red screen, what i did is i tried to re-install the stream engine, but it didn't allow me as it said some files were unable to be written upon, i went to those files and tried to delete them but it said that i couldn't because Google Chrome was using those files for some reason, quit Google chrome and used the task manager to end all its tasks and it worked, for you it might be something else that is using those files, so try to reinstall stream engine, follow what i did and it will probably work.
I hope that helps you.

Hey Abbs,
Thanks for getting back to me. My issue was that OBS wasn't making the stream engine a priority. So I had to make it so Windows started the Stream Engine when my PC started up and I also had to make sure that Google Chrome never ever started up when I booted my PC. So I had to disable that via 'msconfig'. Pain in the butt really. But it works now. Thanks anyway!
