Question / Help Need Help Setting up a Stream for Twitch

Hello.

My name is Doug. I decided today that I'd like to try streaming again. Years ago, I used to stream on "uStream", but I want to use twitch now. I have downloaded the OBS software.

This is where I am right now.

I can get the game to capture with the sound. However, there is about 1 cm of screen that seems to be missing all the way around.

A few of the issues that I am having are as follows:

My FPS stays around 20 FPS even though I have it set to stream at 30 FPS. My bitrate is set to 1800. My upload speed is just over 2MB/s.

My computer (laptop) specs:
i7 CPU @ 2.1GHz
8GB RAM
1 TB HD

and another issue I am having is with my video card. I have an AMD Radeon 7730M installed in my computer. However when I am setting up my stream, the OBS software only detects my integrated video card.

Basically, if anyone wouldn't mind taking the time to walk me though setting up a stream, it would be MUCH appreciated.

I have seen people with worse computer specs stream better than I have been able to setup, so that is why i am frustrated and want to fix this. I have watched hour long videos, I have read lots of forums, but I just can't seem to get things to work properly. Which makes me worry that this just wont work because of my upload speed.

Thank you for any help! It's all very much appreciated.

Not sure if this is still the issue but found this on the obsforums. https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/dedicated-video-adapter-not-detected.13099/

paibox said "OBS can only run on one video card at a time, since it does all scene rendering on the GPU. On a laptop with multiple GPUs you basically have to choose between window capture (running on the Intel) and game capture (running on the dedicated GPU). "

I would read through that link and see if any suggestions there fixes your issues.

Unfortunately, AMD laptops have this problem due to the way their drivers work. Your only option generally is Monitor Capture or Window Capture with Compatibility Mode checked. This limits the performance you're going to be able to get out of OBS, unfortunately.

As for the display issue, you can select your source in the sources box and press ctl+F to fit the image to your scene.
