Question / Help Need Help Recovering Recording

So last night was my birthday, and after i got back from the pub i decided to play some games and record it, then sank my way through a bottle of scotch. Haven't seen the footage yet, but i think it would be mildly amusing. (No im not an alcohlic, it was my birthday)

When i try and open up the recording, windows media player says that the file cannot be played, and it may not have a supported codec. All my other videos i can open up no problem, just this one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Luke

Still not working, i forgot to mention i turned off my computer last night, whilst it was still recording, so im not sure if its corrupted and unrecoverable.

try it to run it trough a video convertor, it might not have a good ending @ the file, a convertor might end it

Were you recording in MP4 or FLV? One of the two means it's toast, irrecoverable if not properly closed. Can't recall which one though.

MP4s must be properly closed, FLVs can work even if something happens to disrupt (OBS crash, computer BSODs, drunkenly turning the computer off, etc) the recording. Chances are you were using MP4 and you're screwed, as its the default (because FLV isn't well supported and needs conversion for most devices). Still, its worth checking to see which one you saved as.
