My setup is

cpu: i7 4790k
gpu: 270x
16gb ram
500gb ssd

internet is 50/5 wired connection

have been changing between 3000 and 3500 bitrate, i used the OBS estimator and it said to use CBR encoding
streaming res is 1280/720 @ 30 frames
with the Video preset of Veryfast and Main with x264

with CFR enabled.

Using OBS and streaming CS:GO, Lol, some racing games, etc

Its fine for a little while and then it'll start to drop frames like crazy. which is super noticeable on 30fps.

Its not getting above 50% cpu usage so that isn't the problem. And my gpu is more than capable of 720/30fps

Please help because it is getting frustrating.

if your stream was lagging it could be your connection to twitch. Or somewhere between you and the ingest. Post your log. Your i5 should to 720@30 pretty easily. So if you are having issues over time, its probably connection related since your game would lag if it was your cpu

Code:
18:23:26: Number of times waited to send: 13250, Waited for a total of 48570546 bytes

18:23:26: Number of b-frames dropped: 15056 (14%), Number of p-frames dropped: 25401 (24%), Total 40457 (39%)
I'm a little worried about this:
i uploaded it but where does it go?
here is the link i copied from it

this is was i was asking for. Set your profile to main not high. Scene buffering to 700. Set a custom resolution to 1920x1080 and downscale to 1280x720. Lanszcose filtering whatever its called. If doing 720@30 should be 2500-3000 bitrate but 2500 will look fine. If 720@60 should be 3500 bitrate. X264 preset can do faster with both and fast @30fps and be fine in comp cs:go matches. Uninstall raptr aka gaming evolved. It is trying to steal the game capture hook causing additional in game lag. Also disable in-home streaming and broadcasting in steam. This will cause the same. Lastly dont preview while encoding/streaming. You can enable this under the encoding tab called "disable ppreviewing while encoding" or something.

questions from your response.
1. Is there any difference besides gpu load if i play games at 1080 then downscale to 720, or just play at 720 and stream at 720? Would really like to stream at 720/60 if possible
2. Purpose of scene buffering? the more frames it uses as a cache?
3. I will play a lot of games coming from console as well (use elgato HD60 in conjunction with OBS) it works great but again having the same problem as previously mentioned. Will i need to change settings based on what game i play? bitrate/buffering/etc
4. Will i still be able to see my stream if i disable the preview while encoding?

down-scaling uses up a little more CPU but for the quality you gain, its worth it. you have a 4790 so dont worry about that.

it is what it sounds like. buffering scenes :) but mainly it helps with audio video syncing.

you wont be able to see your stream. but that is what previewing before hand does. an alternative to that is to http://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2/comments/1o5n68/how_to_watch_twitch_through_vlc/ try this. or watch it on your phone. make sure you mute it ahead of time. if you watch stream in browser, it will cause studdering.

Just try it and report back with a log on how it worked.

so watching my stream while i'm streaming on the same computer is not advised?

I usually have the preview stream on OBS, then also watching stream on twitch to make sure its not stuttering.

Will try it soon! thanks alot!
