8 real cores could be better than 4 real and 4 HT. do you have a dual socket motherboard? That being said, those CPUs are only 3GHz.I was looking at upgrading my dedicated streaming pc and i noticed i can get 2 Intel Xeon E5450 For half the price of 1 Intel core I7 4970k and i have looked at benchmarks and i have no idea if they would do better live streaming please help thanks
Yeah with 32 gigs of Kingston DDR3 EEC Ram
oh wait no! those are old LGA771s, dont do that. and no that is probably DDR2-533 quad channel ram. I actually have an HP server with that setup, it is decent just not for gamingYeah with 32 gigs of Kingston DDR3 EEC Ram
I do believe those 771's would do good for just encoding. With my tests, I had an rtmp server reencoding a hardware encoder that was doing 720@48fps at medium preset 80% usage with 2 5450s, but there is really no upgrade path left.Alright ill change it before i order it so for doing a lot of encoding what would i be able to 1080p 60fps or would i still be stuck at 720p 60fps with my AMD fx6300 for my streaming pc ??
I was running this through linux mind you....Wow that is a lot better than i get the now i run very fast at 720p 60 fps well now i know ill go get it all ordered
Read above, I edited my post. but yeah, you'll need a DX11 GPU of some sort. it doesn't have to be grand, just DX11 like a cheap AMD 260x or somethingMines will be running windows 8.1 with an SSD with Just Obs And Follower/Sub Alert software
Ill be taking the GTX 750FTW out of the streaming pc i have the now , What post ??

be sure you run a decent GPU with that server though, OBS uses the GPU to downscale and hook the video, even with a cap card.
