Question / Help Need a little help (suggestions) on the HDMI Splitter/Switch side of things

For ease in OBS broadcasting, or rather - for the sake of my sanity, I don't want to have to be switching cords constantly so I am trying to remove that part of my life.

I will be purchasing the Avermedia Live Gamer HD PCI-E card.

This is what I have

PS3
PS4
WII-U
360
PC (obviously)

Will get an XBONE in the future, but right now I don't have one.

If possible I need a switch/splitter that also bypasses HDCP (As opposed to the HDMI-DVI solution), but with my consoles I play on my TV which is next to my computer, and of course for PC gaming I play on my monitor, so that's two outputs

Any suggestions? Thank you :)

I got a ViewHD Pluto 1x2 HDMI splitter, it's HDMI 1.4 compatible (up to 4K).
You should find it on eBay or Amazon for 30-40 USD. Article number is "VHD-Pluto".

FYI, DVI is HDCP-compliant and does not remove it just by using an adapter.

For PS3 you can use a Component cable to bypass the HDCP problem.

Thank you for your reply,

H4ndy - this video mentions the HDMI-DVI HDCP bypass method for the ps4, which i have seen in several places, I'm only assumign it would work for ps3 as well (as its not needed on the ps4 anymore)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQ-aNgGNHO0

However, I'm trying to find out how many inputs and outputs i need for my set up there. I'm not sure if 1x2 is enough?

I'm assuming you are suggesting the 1x2 hdmi splitter, on top of some other prodcuts yeah? If i can order everything that I would need all at once it would be in my favor..

So... what

a 5x1
a 4x1

plus a 1x2?

or?

Well the ViewHD is acting as an stripper so connect console there and two outputs to TV and you capture card.
What you might need is a HDMI-selector before that if you really want to keep all consoles connected at the same time. so 5 input > selector > splitter > TV+capture.

As for the PS4, you can disable HDCP in the System settings, which allows you to record gameplay with any hardware. The PS3 is the only console in your list with mandatory HDCP output in HDMI, thats why most people just us a component cable.

perfect, just the info i wanted :)

though, I don't believe the Live Gamer HD has capability for component, there is just hdmi in/out and audio in/out... are there component to hdmi converters?

Ahh I see what you are saying the ViewHD will bypass the HDCP

Ok, I think I got this figured out

Kinivo 501BN Premium 5 in / 1 out --> ViewHD splitter --> TV/PC

You may want to put the HDCP-stripping splitter between the PS3 and selector box; cheaper ones can cause a bit of delay as they're designed more for watching TV than playing video games, so play loose with the latency so long as the audio and video stay sync'd.

I'd advise grabbing an HDMI Matrix instead, there are cheap 6x2 units (6 in, 2 out) which also lets you set things up on the console side before swapping it over, or quickly change your monitor back to the PC feed without also changing your capture card too.

Be aware that in any of these cases, if you are running your PC out to the selector, you will VERY likely disconnect from your GPU and rearrange your desktop every time you switch, especially if you are on a multi-monitor setup... the PC will default back to single (or dual, if you're on a tri-head setup) and scramble all of your icons and window locations each time.
You can stop this from happening by buying a device called an EDID spoofer/emulator. They run around $70 on the cheaper end. I bought a Gefen HDMI Detective from the Wal-Mart website myself, and it works beautifully after I got it set up and the EDID handshake programmed/memorized (so the monitor will retain HDCP connection capability, for PC-side things).

My layout is planned to be like this, once I get time to do all the cable routing:

PS3 -----> Splitter --------> Matrix ----------------> PC Monitor
PC ----> EDID Spoofer------^ v-----------------> Capture Card
WiiU -------------------------------^
X360 ------------------------------^
Wii -> HDMI Adapter --------^
Dreamcast -> VGA/HDMI -^

Ferret Bomb - Since it's a PCI-E card, I won't need to have the PC out to the selector, everything if I understand all of this correctly will be hooked up to the capture card.

All of the consoles will be played on the TV, but recorded on the capture card. So wouldn't I need the splitter for all the consoles, not just the PS3? Sorry, this is all a bit confusing yet.

This was my most recent plan

PS4, 360, WiiU, Xbone, PS3, ---> Panlong 5 Port HDMI v1.4 ---> Sewell Direct 1x2 HDMI Splitter, v1.4 ---> Capture Card & TV
