Question / Help Native base resoltuion and downscale, or lower base resolution with no downscale?

Is there any difference between

1) Putting a low base resolution and not downscale.

OR

2) Putting the normal resolution and downscaling.

Is one of the two better to do, if so why?

from what when you think downscaling, think antialiasing in a sense. downscaling (depending on the filter) will look a lot sharper. while it has a slight performance increase, it is very worth it.

just usings the custom resolution just squishes the screen casuing blurriness and frey'd lines.
