Question / Help My screen recordings have scratchy black bars

Hello,

I am running OBS on Linux Mint 19 with the following specs:

Intel core i7 (2018)
240GB Sandisk SSD
Asus GeForce GTX 1050ti GPU
16GB RAM

I would think that my system is hefty enough to allow me to take screen recordings in 1080p with no problem. However, the videos recorded have these scratchy distortions on them that are really annoying. I have made a video reproducing this problem. You can see it in the linked YouTube video at 0:12, 0:30, 0:35. My current settings are below. How can I get rid of this problem and ensure smooth, flawless recordings?

Rate control: variable bitra
Bitrate: 25
Max bitrate: 50
Keyframe interval: 2 (tried 0 as wel
Encoder: Nvidia Nvec H.2
GPU:
Max B-frames:
Resolution: 1920x1080

I'm pretty sure this is due to OpenGL flipping in the Nvidia driver. See this post for a solution:
