Question / Help My New capture Card

only caputres a blank desktop. Shows no icons. its the Micomsoft 512 dvi, when i try to open a game, obs goes black as its trying to grab it and then goes back to desktop. Any suggestions?

A capture card is designed to capture the output of the graphic device, be it a gaming console or a graphics card. I'm assuming you're using a dual pc setup?

The avermedia works fine, well it captures the game, this new one is having issues. I am not very good at this stuff fyi

sounds like Aero to me tbh Aero can make any of the glass tiles not show up to all sorts of capture methods. Id stick w/ the Avermedia

I have it working now. Just need to figure out how to get game audio to the stream. I have game audio in my headset

Not when using a capture card.

Only reason the icons would be missing would be if you set the cap card up as a second monitor and used 'Extend' mode instead of duplicate/mirror.

To get audio across, you'll need to set your source system to play audio out over the HDMI audio device. The SC512 can capture embedded audio. You can also use a dubbing cable from the speaker-out on the first machine to the Line In on the streaming machine, but it's best to just use HDMI to keep the timestamps together and avoid sync drift.

Audio setup is one of the harder parts of the classic 2-PC setup. Especially using a mic both to talk to your viewers (from the streaming machine) and still be able to use in-game voice comms (from the gaming machine).
