Question / Help Muting selective audio while streaming.

Sorry if this has already been asked but not really sure how to word my searches lol.

What I want to do is mute certain programs (namely skype) while streaming yet still have audio playing.

For instance:
I'm playing a game with a friend on skype while streaming, the audio of both game and skype is going through the stream. Now, I want to take a break for say 5-10 minutes but still talk to my friend on skype without closing down the stream and play music during the intermission.

Is there a way I can temporarily disable audio coming from skype so i can still talk to my friend while playing music to the viewers?

I know I can mute myself to the stream via the OBS screen itself but not sure how to mute my friend's audio for the stream too without not being able to hear them myself.

Any ideas?

you can use virtual audio cable to separate the audio streams that OBS picks up, but it would be difficult to separate them selectively, i think.

Thanks for the link.
As far as I can see though this would block Skype audio altogether which I don't want to do, i only want to block skype audio at certain points. Would the method shown be easily "turned on and off" or would i have to keep changing settings each time i wanted to block audio for a few minutes?

Hope it's ok to necro this:

OP, did you ever figure out a solution? I'm also looking for a way to manually & selectively turn off Skype mic input AND output, so I don't have to bore streamers with conversations that they don't need to hear.

I understand I can use VAC to exclude Skype completely but I'd like to include Skype conversations into my stream "most of the time" and have a Skype-specific mute switch so to speak.
